Recipe
Agua de Jamaica
Agua de jamaica is the crimson agua fresca you'll find on tables all over Mexico and Latin America: tart, refreshing and lightly sweet. Our blend adds a gentle warmth of cinnamon and indigenous spices, and fresh lime keeps it bright.
Makes: about 6 cups (6 servings) · Time: 15 minutes, plus chilling
Ingredients
- 4 tablespoons Mampro Spiced Hibiscus Drink Blend
- 2 cups boiling water
- 4 cups cold water
- Juice of 2 limes, plus lime wheels to serve
- Sugar, to taste (start with 1/3 cup)
- Ice, to serve
Steps
- Make a concentrate: pour the boiling water over the blend and steep for 10 to 15 minutes.
- Sweeten: strain it into a pitcher and stir in the sugar while it's hot, until it dissolves.
- Cool it down: add the cold water and lime juice and stir.
- Taste: add more sugar, lime or water until it's just how you like it.
- Chill: refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
- Serve: pour over ice and add a lime wheel to each glass.
Tips
- For a sparkling version, use sparkling water instead of the cold water, added just before serving.
- Keeps in the fridge for up to 4 days. Add the lime wheels to each glass rather than the pitcher so it doesn't turn bitter.
